This is done through the use of gentle breathing, calm and safe guided imagery, the chance to follow anxiety release exercises, the use of metaphor, a series of positive suggestions about the future and the creation of personal coping strategies to help you deal with daily situations.

 

In doing so, you can regain a sense of perspective and feel more in control over these feelings and how they impact your life.  As a result, you begin to react less to the triggers that used to bring on the associated feelings and memories, so you begin to feel more able to move forward positively with a renewed sense of hope that you will not always feel the way you do right now.
